The Panthers have clearly soured on Landon Johnson, a linebacker they lured away from Cincinnati with a three-year, $10 million contract this off-season.
Johnson has just six tackles and was declared inactive last week.
PLAYER NOTES
--LB Adam Seward did not practice Wednesday and probably won't play with a sprained ankle.
--QB Jake Delhomme completed 17 of 24 passes for 206 yards and two TDs in his last game against Green Bay.
--RB DeAngelo Williams looks to set a record this week with his fifth straight 100-yard rushing game.
--CB Richard Marshall is likely to be targeted by the Packers on Sunday. The Falcons did that and had success throwing at him.
--DE Julius Peppers has nine sacks in his past nine games.
GAME PLAN: Look for the Panthers to run early and often against the Packers 26th-ranked run defense. DeAngelo Williams is hot, going for his fifth straight 100-yard game, so he should get the bulk of the carries.
MATCHUPS TO WATCH: Panthers RBs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart vs. Packers front four -- Green Bay comes in with the 26th-ranked rushing defense, allowing 142.9 yards per game, which is good news for the Panthers. Williams has four straight 100-yard rushing games and could be a major factor this week. Stewart's carries will be determined by whether or not the Panthers have an early lead or have to play from behind.
Packers RB Ryan Grant vs. Panthers front seven: Carolina's run defense has been awful. The Panthers simply haven't tackled well in the past three games, and they allowed five rushing TDs vs. Atlanta.
INJURY IMPACT: LB Adam Seward (ankle) is the only player who was held out of practice Wednesday.
