The Panthers continue to flip-flop D.J. Hackett and Dwayne Jarrett as their No. 3 receiver. It hardly seems to matter who plays as neither is a big part of the offense.
In fact, the Panthers run far more two tight end sets than three receiver sets.
PLAYER NOTES
--DE Hilee Taylor did not practice Thursday (calf) and looks like a scratch this week.
--LB Adam Seward did not practice on Thursday and will likely miss his third straight game with an ankle injury.
--RB DeAngelo Williams has scored in six straight games and has 11 TDs in his last six games. During that span he has run for 727 yards.
--WR Steve Smith has eclipsed 100 yards in each of his past three games. He became the first Carolina player with 50 career touchdowns last week.
--DE Julius Peppers needs one sack to set a new career high.
GAME PLAN: Um, let's see. The Panthers are dominating teams by running the football, and the Broncos have been terrible most of the season defending the run. This one is easy to figure out.
And on the other side of the ball look for Jay Cutler to exploit a Carolina defense that has allowed more than 600 yards passing and five touchdowns through the air the last two weeks.
MATCHUPS TO WATCH: Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams vs. Broncos defense -- Williams has been incredible of late with 727 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns in his past six games. Look for him to have a big game vs. Denver, which does not have a great run defense.
Broncos QB Jay Cutler vs. Panthers secondary: The Panthers allowed Aaron Rodgers and Jeff Garcia to combine for more than 600 passing yards and five touchdowns the past two weeks.
INJURY IMPACT: Linebacker Adam Seward (ankle) and defensive end Hilee Taylor (calf) are the only players whose status is uncertain.
