When Domenik Hixon had a chance to speak with Plaxico Burress recently, they didn't talk about guns or arrests or non-Football injuries. They talked about running routes.
"He started coaching me up," Hixon said. "As soon as I saw him he was talking about releases and going up against Philly this week and knowing what to expect."
For the young receivers who now have the job of replacing Burress' production and presence on the field, they are facing both challenges and opportunities. While Hixon and Steve Smith will play an even larger role in the passing game, Sinorice Moss and Mario Manningham will have a chance at emerging from the shadows to prove they can contribute on Sundays.
But it sounds las if those moving up in the food chain won't be shy about turning to Burress for advice, even though he is suspended for the rest of the season.
"He's been there and been in every situation," Smith said of possibly calling Burress.
